The e-ROSA project seeks to build a shared vision of a future sustainable e-infrastructure for research and education in agriculture in order to promote Open Science in this field and as such contribute to addressing related societal challenges. In order to achieve this goal, e-ROSA’s first objective is to bring together the relevant scientific communities and stakeholders and engage them in the process of coelaboration of an ambitious, practical roadmap that provides the basis for the design and implementation of such an e-infrastructure in the years to come.
This website highlights the results of a bibliometric analysis conducted at a global scale in order to identify key scientists and associated research performing organisations (e.g. public research institutes, universities, Research & Development departments of private companies) that work in the field of agricultural data sources and services. During the last three decades Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has expended itself in an exponential manner and made it possible to access right information at right time by an individual organization or culture. Structure of ICT market has been changed completely by digitization and competition. Third generation cellular, WiMAX, cable and fiber infrastructure etc. are passing through rapid technological innovations. Further Asian countries hold only two percent of world's income but accommodates about one fourth of the world's population out of which about half are below poverty level. ICT revolution in these countries has gained momentum but still many communities have almost nil access to the value added information. In this paper challenges and opportunities in ICT implementation to various field in south Asian countries have been investigated with an emphasis on ICT revolution and its applications in agriculture, Health care and Medical, Traffic Management, Electricity and Power management, School Education and Police force.
