e-infrastructure Roadmap for Open Science in Agriculture

A bibliometric study

The e-ROSA project seeks to build a shared vision of a future sustainable e-infrastructure for research and education in agriculture in order to promote Open Science in this field and as such contribute to addressing related societal challenges. In order to achieve this goal, e-ROSA’s first objective is to bring together the relevant scientific communities and stakeholders and engage them in the process of coelaboration of an ambitious, practical roadmap that provides the basis for the design and implementation of such an e-infrastructure in the years to come.

This website highlights the results of a bibliometric analysis conducted at a global scale in order to identify key scientists and associated research performing organisations (e.g. public research institutes, universities, Research & Development departments of private companies) that work in the field of agricultural data sources and services. Title

Big Data approach to a novel nutrition-based vegetable production and distribution system

en
Abstract

The advent of Big Data analytics is changing some of the current knowledge paradigms in Science as well in Industry. Even though, the term and some of the core methodologies are not new and have been around for many years, the continuous price reduction of hardware and related services (e.g. cloud computing) are making more affordable the application of such methodologies to almost any Research Area in Academic Institutions or Company Research Centers. This growing popularity is also raising concerns regarding some of its core concepts and the way Data is treated through the analysis process. It is the aim of this paper to address these concerns because big Data Methodologies will be extensively used in the new ICT Agriculture project, in order to know how to handle them, and how they could impact normal operations among the project members, or the information flow between the system parts. Creating a common background to be shared among project members and applied to the successful development and deployment of the project.
