e-infrastructure Roadmap for Open Science in Agriculture

A bibliometric study

The e-ROSA project seeks to build a shared vision of a future sustainable e-infrastructure for research and education in agriculture in order to promote Open Science in this field and as such contribute to addressing related societal challenges. In order to achieve this goal, e-ROSA’s first objective is to bring together the relevant scientific communities and stakeholders and engage them in the process of coelaboration of an ambitious, practical roadmap that provides the basis for the design and implementation of such an e-infrastructure in the years to come.

This website highlights the results of a bibliometric analysis conducted at a global scale in order to identify key scientists and associated research performing organisations (e.g. public research institutes, universities, Research & Development departments of private companies) that work in the field of agricultural data sources and services. Electronic assistance for straw and hay harvesting with large square balers

Abstract

Electronic driver assistance, data management and process improvement becomes more and more important for agricultural purposes. By help of the ISOBUS standard comprehensive processes can be supported by electronic and IT-components. The manuscript contains a project presentation of operation planning, electronic field management, field navigation, task management, machine data collection and bale tagging with large square balers. Linked to the project iGreen KRONE established a process and information system to cover all aspects of hay and straw harvesting. Campaign planning begins in the office with a farm management system. Linked to the iGreen project KRONE used a web based GeoEditor. By help of field border lines and field access points the system can navigate to the correct area. When the correct field is reached the driver activates the planned task and relevant machine- and sensor data are recorded. Each produced bale is labeled with an electronic tag. This lecture will give an overview of the actual situation, technical possibilities and will conclude with a vision for the future.
