The e-ROSA project seeks to build a shared vision of a future sustainable e-infrastructure for research and education in agriculture in order to promote Open Science in this field and as such contribute to addressing related societal challenges. In order to achieve this goal, e-ROSA’s first objective is to bring together the relevant scientific communities and stakeholders and engage them in the process of coelaboration of an ambitious, practical roadmap that provides the basis for the design and implementation of such an e-infrastructure in the years to come.

To support China's rural development and the growth of farmer incomes it is necessary to accelerate the development of agricultural information systems. The transaction characteristics of agricultural markets have been applied to the design of an online agricultural product transaction system. The aim has been to improve the systems available for product transactions, and to propose a set of market realisation mechanisms dealing with the ordering and certification of products. These would enable the system to support more economic trading practices. The first stage is to help farmers to understand, accept, and trust the technologies associated with online product transactions, and to better appreciate the benefits of these easier and more rapid procedures.
