The e-ROSA project seeks to build a shared vision of a future sustainable e-infrastructure for research and education in agriculture in order to promote Open Science in this field and as such contribute to addressing related societal challenges. In order to achieve this goal, e-ROSA’s first objective is to bring together the relevant scientific communities and stakeholders and engage them in the process of coelaboration of an ambitious, practical roadmap that provides the basis for the design and implementation of such an e-infrastructure in the years to come.

This research paper presents an agricultural decision_support system that is able to forecast prices of selected rice varieties, estimate minimum rice requirement for the country, and predict the rice production for a given future period of time, with the aid of a centralized data warehouse. There are several factors that affect the rice production and the rice requirement in Sri Lanka. Those quantifiable factors have been taken into account to build these modules. Price forecasting was done by analyzing past price variations. Subsequently, research was carried out in terms of finding the factors which affect the rice requirement and the rice production in Sri Lanka. This article explores the application of data mining and statistical analyzing tools that provide a fine-tuned decision making procedure with regard to paddy production and rice prices in Sri Lanka.
