e-infrastructure Roadmap for Open Science in Agriculture

A bibliometric study

The e-ROSA project seeks to build a shared vision of a future sustainable e-infrastructure for research and education in agriculture in order to promote Open Science in this field and as such contribute to addressing related societal challenges. In order to achieve this goal, e-ROSA’s first objective is to bring together the relevant scientific communities and stakeholders and engage them in the process of coelaboration of an ambitious, practical roadmap that provides the basis for the design and implementation of such an e-infrastructure in the years to come.

This website highlights the results of a bibliometric analysis conducted at a global scale in order to identify key scientists and associated research performing organisations (e.g. public research institutes, universities, Research & Development departments of private companies) that work in the field of agricultural data sources and services. Descriptive and thematic representation of the Embrapa Information Agency: vocabulary control

en
Abstract

This paper discusses the conception and establishment of the descriptive and thematic representation activities as well as the specialized vocabulary control in the website Embrapa Information Agency (IEA). It is adopted the standard Dublin Core for metadata description of the information resources, which are represented by the minimum rules for cataloging and indexing. Specializing thesauri are adopted in agriculture for assigning keywords and subject categories. Free terms control is assured, aiming vocabulary consistency and quality maintenance. It uses handling tools for information resources of vocabulary control, integrated to the management system content, which houses the activities set of the IEA website information organization. Activities that involve thematic and descriptive representation should be supported by procedures and tools that systematize and standardize their routines in order to ensure improvement in information retrieval.
